Diversified Occupations

Diversified Occupations (D.O.) is a one-year instructional program in partnership with business and industry that helps to prepare students for their individualized career goal. While students obtain technical knowledge and work skills in a paid experience at our partnered employer sites several days a week, the ‘soft skills’ curriculum, i.e., portfolio development, financial literacy, OSHA-10 and other industry certification preparation will be taught at BCCTC during in-person instruction one day a week. This on-the-job, compensated work experience is an opportunity for high school seniors to prepare for life after graduation due to a structured, supervised introduction to work in a specific skilled trade by both the employer and a State certified Diversified Occupations instructor. Maintaining employment, reliable transportation, and class attendance are a must for the successful completion of the course requirements.

Diversified Occupations is designed to provide training in a skilled trade profession that is not currently being offered as a program at BCCTC.  Students interested in enrolling in Diversified Occupations will be required to be supervised at the work site by the employer, expect regular visits by the D.O. instructor, attend prescheduled instruction and complete all required academic coursework, and be employed at minimum of 15 hours per week, during and/or after school hours.

Students employed through the D.O. program, may be required to purchase a uniform. When attending BCCTC, students are to follow the school’s dress code 'policy'
